If you are interested in learning to play, the GREAT News is that there are loads of bands in South Wales which have a wealth of experience and tutors who are able to teach you.
The hardest part is just walking through the door the first time, and we can assure you that you will be met with a load of smiling faces 😀 - so perhaps its not that hard ? 😀
Brass banding is not all about playing a brass instrument. The percussion section of the brass band is extremely important. It provides colour, excitement and effects that overall enhance the sound of the band. Maybe people think of percussion as just kettle or snare drums as that is all that they have seen in orchestras. But in brass banding it is so much more. It can be a drum kit, it can be xylophones. It can be a hundred different things, all of which are exciting to play and add something amazing to the sound of the band. So maybe if brass is not your thing, then percussion could be the choice for you.
The following youth bands are associated with South Wales Youth Band.
